Application of fire-retardant paint PLAMCOR-5

Surface preparation before applying the composition

The composition is applied to the previously prepared surface. To prepare the surface, it is recommended to use VMP primers such as zinc-filled ZINEP, ZFES, ISOLEP-primer with anticorrosive pigments, or other primers as specified by the fire-retardant material manufacturer.

The surface shall be free from metal corrosion, peeling, and cracking. Fire-retardant composition is applied not earlier than 1 day after priming.

The surface shall be prepared before applying the fire-retardant composition by removing dust and grease to the first degree according to GOST 9.402. Remove moisture, if necessary.

Fire retardant application preparation

The base shall be thoroughly mixed before adding the hardener in a weight ratio of 100:20.9. Once the components are combined, the composition is ready for use. The composition shall be applied within 1 hour at a temperature of (20±2) °С. As the temperature increases, this period is shortened.

If necessary, the material is brought to working viscosity by SOLV-UR solvent.

Application of fire-retardant composition

PLAMCOR-5 shall be applied at temperatures ranging from -5°C to +40°C and a relative humidity of not more than 80% by airless spraying, brush or spatula.

Thickness of one dry layer is:

– from 3 to 4 mm when applied with the airless spraying;
– at least 3 mm when applied with a spatula;
– not less than 1 mm when applied with a brush.

The theoretical spreading rate for 1000 µm one-layer coating is 1.3 kg/m².

The composition is applied in 1-5 layers, depending on the required fire-proofing efficiency and the metal's thickness.

Each layer is cured for at least 4 hours (at temperature 20±2 °C and relative humidity 65±5%).

Drying time of the coating depends on the temperature and decreases with its increase. This process lasts for at least 7 days.

If necessary, a finishing enamel can be used as a finishing layer. Application is performed in 1 or 2 layers to achieve a total thickness of 50 to 80 µm, after at least a 24-hour curing period of the fire-retardant composition.

VMP performs “turnkey” fire-retardant works.
