Structures of the Akkuyu NPP under construction in Turkey are protected with VMP materials

On April 27, 2023, the first shipment of nuclear fuel was delivered to the first power unit of Akkuyu NPP under construction in Turkey. The Presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, took part in the ceremony via video link. The construction site was attended by the Head of the IAEA Rafael Grossi and Director General of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev.

Akkuyu is the first nuclear power plant in Turkey. Its construction is being carried out by the Russian state corporation Rosatom. Four power units with a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts are to be commissioned by 2028.

ZINEP primer is used to protect cable passages and embedded structures in the controlled access zone;

Air ducts in the controlled access zone are protected with ZINEP + VINICOR EP-1155D system;

Polar cranes are protected with ZINEP + VINICOR EP-1155D system;

VINICOR EP-1155D enamel is applied to the internal reactor section containments;

Structures in the controlled access zone are protected with ZINEP + VINICOR EP-1155D and ZINEP + VINICOR EP-5285 systems;

ISOLEP-mastic + VINICOR EP-1155D and ISOLEP-hydro + VINICOR 62 grade B + VINICOR marine grade AF S systems are used to protect the NPP cooling system;

The NPP equipment is protected with ZINEP + ISOLEP-mastic + POLYTON-UR (UV) system, as well as with ZINEP + ISOLEP-mio + POLYTON-UR (UV) system;

Fire protection of the water treatment building is ensured with PLAMCOR-6 and PLAMCOR-2 materials, while UV-resistant enamel POLYTON-UR (UV) with excellent decorative characteristics is used as a finishing coating;

Fire protection of the controlled access zone structures is ensured with PLAMCOR-6 and PLAMCOR-2 materials; decontamination-resistant enamel VINIKOR EP-1155D is used as  finishing coating.
